CIRL Terms of Service Terms package 2026-09-12

These Terms of Service (Terms) are a contract between you and Michael Christen, operating Connect In Real Life (CIRL) as a sole operator from Champs Thiébauts 12, 2735 Valbirse, Switzerland. In these Terms, “CIRL”, “we”, and “us” mean that operator. CIRL is a software platform that helps adults find activities, events, and other people for real-life meetings. CIRL is not a party to those meetings unless we clearly say we are organizing a specific event.

Status: This package is a review draft aligned with the live app’s behaviour. Public store listings and launch countries are not final. Material facts still open are listed in `docs/project_memory/LEGAL_OWNER_DECISIONS.md`.

1. Eligibility You must be **18 years or older** to create an account. CIRL is not for children. We may close an account if we learn the user is under 18. We do not ask for government identity documents by default.

2. Accounts You must provide a working email and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at support@cirl.app if you think someone else used it. One person may have more than one account only where CIRL’s signup limits allow it. Do not share an account.

Personal profiles describe you. Business / organizer profiles may be created only if you have authority to represent that organization. You must keep listings truthful.

3. Accepting these Terms Creating an account requires agreeing to **these Terms** (which incorporate the Community and Safety Rules and the Organizer Terms). We also show you the Privacy Notice. Reading the Privacy Notice is not blanket consent to every optional use of data. Optional processing that uses sexual orientation or family plans in matching needs a separate opt-in you can withdraw (sensitive matching). CIRL Match readings may send names, bios, shared interests, and the match percent to the configured language-model host as part of providing that explanation.

We record, on the server, which document version you accepted, when, and from which flow (signup or in-app update). A tick on one device or account does not cover another account. We do not pretend that older users accepted a newer version they never saw.

If we make a material change to these Terms, we will ask for a new agreement before you keep using signed-in features. You can still read the documents, contact support, log out, manage a store subscription if one exists, and request deletion if you decline. Administrative corrections (typos, layout) are not material changes.

4. The service CIRL may include browsing as a guest, profiles, Discover, Explore maps and lists, messaging, groups, activities and events, reports, optional CIRL Match scores and readings, optional natal-chart style text, optional writing helpers, and an optional **ChatGPT connected app** that can write catalog profile fields you authorize after you connect ChatGPT to CIRL (no copy/paste). Uncertain fields stay for your review in the app. CIRL Match readings may call the configured large-language-model (LLM) host; a local template is used if that host is down. Features can fail, change, or be unavailable. CIRL is **not** an emergency service, background-check service, or a guarantee that anyone is who they say they are.

Meetups have real-world risk. Use public places, tell a trusted person where you go, and leave if you feel unsafe. Call local emergency services if there is danger — not CIRL.

5. Your content You keep ownership of photos, bios, messages, and listings you upload. You grant CIRL a limited licence to host, store, format, display, and deliver that content according to the visibility you chose, so the app can function. We do not claim a right to use your content for unrelated advertising or to train third-party models just because you uploaded it.

You must have the right to upload what you post, including other people’s images or details. Do not post illegal content.

6. Acceptable use You must follow the Community and Safety Rules. You must not abuse, scam, harass, stalk, dox, sexually exploit anyone (including children), share non-consensual intimate images, infringe others’ rights, or use CIRL to break the law. Offensive language, racism, and hate can lead to a **warning, suspension, or deletion**.

We may limit, suspend, or close accounts, hide listings, or restrict features where needed to protect people or the service. We aim to act in proportion to the problem. Emergency restrictions (for example an immediate ban after a credible threat) may happen before a full review.

7. Reports, moderation, and appeals Use in-app Report / Block, or email **support@cirl.app** with the subject “Safety report”. For suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation, use the same channels; we will remove the material we can control and follow applicable reporting duties. CIRL is run by one person: we do **not** promise round-the-clock staff, automated moderation, or police-style investigation.

To appeal a moderation decision, email support@cirl.app with subject “Moderation appeal”, your @handle, and a short explanation. We will read it and reply when we can.

8. Organizers If you create activities or business events, the Organizer Terms apply. You are responsible for venues, permits, pricing, cancellations, and attendee privacy. Linking to an external ticket seller does not make CIRL the ticket seller. CIRL does not currently run its own paid checkout.

9. Paid features, tips, and ads Paid Premium, rewarded ads, and in-app purchases are **not launched**. The separate commercial draft is not in force. A voluntary developer tip, if shown, buys no features and is not a tax-deductible donation.

10. Availability, ending the contract, and liability We try to keep CIRL running but do not promise uninterrupted service. You may stop using CIRL and request deletion as described in the deletion document.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you cannot waive under the law of your country of residence, including rights against death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or other non-excludable duties. Where we are allowed to limit liability for other losses, we limit it to the greater of (a) the amount you paid CIRL for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CHF 100, unless a court requires a higher floor. We do not ask you to indemnify CIRL without limit. We do not require United States-style forced arbitration or a class-action waiver.

11. Transfer of the operator If CIRL is sold, merged, or transferred as a going concern, we may disclose what is **necessary** to complete that transaction, with safeguards, so the service can continue under protections that are at least as strong. A buyer does **not** get unrestricted rights to reuse intimate profile data for unrelated products merely by posting a replacement notice. Financing talks do not justify dumping identifiable intimate data on a lender.

12. Law and disputes The operator is established in Switzerland. **Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply.** We do not pick an exclusive court that would strip those protections. You may use the courts that the law makes available to you, including where you live when that is required.

13. Contact Operational, legal, privacy, and safety contact (email): **support@cirl.app** Postal: Michael Christen, Champs Thiébauts 12, 2735 Valbirse, Switzerland.

This mailbox is the published working contact. It is useful only if it is actually read.
